Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta on May 28th, 1986 as the eldest of eight children. Lady Gaga was educated at a private Catholic Girls school until she was accepted to NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. She is currently one of the most successful new artists, having sold over 8 million albums and 35 million singles. She is known for her eccentric on stage performances and her willingness to push the boundaries of the music world. She was catapulted to fame in 2008 with the release of two singles, "Just Dance" and "Poker Face." From there, she gained notoriety by dressing up in bizarre and shocking costumes for her performances. In addition to being an entertainer, she is very active philanthropically, raising money for Haiti relief, and HIV/AIDS Awareness.

I had no idea about any of those facts about Lady Gaga. To be completely honest I found myself somewhat discouraged from listening to her music when I saw her appearance and the extreme measures she goes to in order to be different. Don't get me wrong I am all for individualism and everyone being their own person, but I also think that at some point when a person takes their appearancel to over the top, the whole thing becomes a show, used for shock appel and so that other people notice you. In this case I do not support such bizarre looks and styles simply because she doesnt do it because it is not who she is as a person; instead her appearance characterizes how she wants to be perceived by the media. That is not ok in my book.
